Microsoft’s latest version of its operating system has been launching which will be work on every device (including holograms). It combines the strength of window 8 with window 7.
Windows 10 is the first major OS update in last three years and Microsoft is eager to be seen as an industry-leader again.
The Seattle-based Corporation is pinning its hopes on several key features:
Start menu
In Windows 8, Microsoft ditched its familiar Start menu button and pop-up column in favor of a tile-orientated screen but after listened to the feedback from the public and re-introducing the classic menu again.
Microsoft Edge
Internet Explorer – the web browser history of 20 years – replaced in Windows 10 by Microsoft Edge. The new browser will enable users to annotate directly on to web pages as though making real notes, and then save these screens for later referral./p>
Windows Store
Microsoft is very late to the app party, and Apple and Android users still have a better experience in this space. A bundle of apps including Photos, Videos, Music, Maps, People & Messaging and Mail & Calendar will look and feel the same across different devices and screen sizes. The data will also be saved and sync automatically via OneDrive.
Cortana
Personal digital assistants is one area Microsoft is ahead of the competition – its own Cortana regularly outperforms Apple’s Siri and Android’s Google Now.
Continuum
A big part of Windows 10 is its ability to work seamlessly across devices. Microsoft’s aim is to have the same operating system running on your smartphone, tablet, laptop and games console.
Xbox compatibility
An eye-catching feature if you are a gamer – Windows 10 will also work on the Xbox One, and will hand players the ability to stream games from their console to their laptop or PC in another room.
According to Microsoft, the Windows 10 operating system will be available as a free upgrade for qualified devices running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.!
The minimum hardware specifications to run Windows 10 are as follows:
- Processor: 1 Gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
- RAM: 1 Gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
- Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS or 20 GB for 64-bit OS
- Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
- Display: 1024×600
